Psychological (healthy mind) Coaching

Your mental state is very important in athletic performance and success. You have to be in the right place mentally and be fully focussed on the task in hand to perform at your best. 

There are many reasons why this may not be the case and these reasons could be directly or indirectly related to your athletics. Richard coaches athletes on an individual basis to help them overcome issues or barriers that are preventing them from performing at their best. These sessions are generally 1-1 and normally take place online using Zoom or a similar format

Examples of potential areas of work are:

  • Extreme nerves or anxiety leading up to and just before races or competitions
  • Focussing the mind between rounds or events
  • Useful evaluation
  • Re-framing negative thoughts about competitors and/or the venue
  • Changing negative self-talk
  • Visualisation techniques
  • Personal image and self-esteem
  • Goal setting

And many other personal issues that may not, on the face of it, seem directly related to your athletics.

An initial conversation will be arranged to find out a bit more about you and your subject matter (but not in any detail at this stage). Some logistics of when, how often and how long the sessions might be, and a little about how we want to work together. This is a great opportunity for you to find out if you think this will work for you.   Confirmation of the agreement would be made in writing and you will need to make a first payment. Then, providing you are happy, we will be good to go.
